Green Shield Canada (or GSC) has been offering extended health and dental benefits since 1957. They are Canada's only not-for-profit health and dental benefits specialist. GSC Health Assist offers a variety of health and dental plans to meet your health care needs. The ZONE plans and the LINK plans are available to Canadian residents age 18 and over who are covered under a provincial health insurance plan. You can apply for coverage up to age 79, and once approved, you can be covered for life (provided you continue to pay your premiums). This even includes emergency medical travel benefits! GSC’s Health Assist products offer competitive rates for singles, couples (single plus one dependent), and families (no restriction on the number of dependents).

Flexible plans offer a choice of prescription drug coverage, dental coverage or a combination of both. In addition, all plans provide coverage towards vision care, extended health care (ie., registered massage therapists and chiropractors), as well as emergency medical travel protection.

Many of the plans guarantee your acceptance, meaning no medical questionnaire is required*.  Health Assist plans are easy to get and easy to understand!

 

ZONE - coverage for individuals (and their dependents)

Whether you are self-employed, a small business owner (including employees), an older student, retiree, contract worker, part-time, seasonal, or temporary worker, the ZONE plans offer comprehensive health and dental coverage at competitive prices.

  • Choose from a variety of plans with different coverage levels – all including vision, extended health care and emergency medical travel benefits with no age limits.
  • Options include both guaranteed issue plans where acceptance is guaranteed*; as well as other plans that do require completion of a medical questionnaire and underwriting.
  • A preferred hospital accommodation benefit is optional with all medical questionnaire plans.

 

LINK - guaranteed coverage to individuals (and their dependents) transitioning from a group health benefits plan.

Employees may face losing their group health benefits due to retirement, career change, job loss or reaching age maximums. It is vital to provide information on the options available for group conversion when you have employees losing their benefits.  If you are retiring, or starting a new job or career, LINK offers affordable coverage for health care expenses.

The GSC Health Assist LINK plans offer individual health and dental coverage that’s guaranteed* as long as GSC receives applications within 90 days of the group health benefits end date.

LINK plans provide comprehensive coverage options without medical underwriting.

Different plan options – all include vision, extended health care, preferred hospital accommodation and emergency medical travel coverage. All plans are guaranteed acceptance* for individuals leaving any group health plan as long as the individual applies within 90 days of their group coverage end date.

*GSC's receipt of payment is required for guaranteed acceptance.
